MASTERPLAN
In the masterplan of the area, the main focus is on the addition of greenery and improving the connection. Strijp-S has some green features such as the Torenallee and the Boschfield. Additional greenery has been placed leading towards the new development site and on the parking space to create a coherent and green area. Patches of tiling and green with integrated urban furniture have been placed throughout the area creating a path unfolding from the Boschfield towards the park. The previously car-oriented Professor Horowitzstraat has been transformed into a pedestrian and bicycle street. By changing this, a pedestrian-friendly area stretches from the developments in the north of Strijp-S down to the park in the southern part of Strijp-S. This pedestrian-friendly corridor creates a strong connection between the development site and the existing urban spaces.
The junction between the Torenallee and the Professor Horowitzstraat is a dangerous crossing with bike lanes crossing the main car road when trying to reach the shared cycle and walking path. To create a safer and straighter junction this is adapted. In the new situation, both cyclist and pedestrians have a designated path, divided by greenery. The existing green is moved, making the existing path smaller and creating room for a two-way bike lane. By adapting the streetscape, the junction becomes safer and more straightforward. By dividing the original shared path the user experience increases as there are no bikes on the pedestrian zones and vice versa.
NORTH-WESTERN
JUNCTION
TORENALLEE
The Torenallee streetscape has been changed in order to create a safe junction for cyclists and pedestrians and to enhance the user experience. The existing sidewalk and street with street-side parking are maintained. The former strip of green that was located along the road and separated the shared bike and pedestrian path from the road has been moved 3.5 m, creating space for a two-way bike lane. In the new situation, there is a protected bike lane as well as a pedestrian zone that is free of bikes.
The public square has a striped pattern, visually guiding the user's eyes towards the new extension on the Microlab building. Following the lines, one will reach the entrance to Microlab or the shopping street on the side of the square. On the square there are patches of green with urban furniture, breaking up the square and continuing the green flow through the development.

The public park will house an outdoor exhibition that brings outside what happens within Microlab. The exhibition allows local designers to display their work and creates a strong connection with the local area. Through the park, there are walkways, following the routes flowing through the area. By having urban furniture and space to sit the park will become a place for people to relax and connect.
